Senior Center responds to letter

Monday, September 7, 2015

To the editor:

In response to a letter in Monday, August 24, 2015's newspaper, the food pantry at the Senior Center in Clay County is here only to supplement client's other means of obtaining food. We give food according to the guidelines that are set for us by Catholic Charities and the USDA.

We don't have many donations, but we try to treat everyone the same, according to the size of your family. Most of the food is purchased through private donations and through Catholic Charities (we pay for what we get except for USDA).

We can only give what we have on hand. We feed 70-80 families every month. I am sorry if you feel that you were treated unfairly but these are the standards that were set for us.
