Authorities searching for elderly Staunton man

The Clay County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a missing Staunton man.

Family of 88-year-old Eugene E. Butts, aka "Popeye," reported him missing around noon on Thursday. He was last seen around 5 p.m. Wednesday by family.

Family members notified authorities after their search for him was unsuccessful. They report Butts suffers from dementia.

Butts was last seen wearing a plaid sports coat with brown pants. He has no access to a vehicle and is believed to have left on foot.

The CCSO is working with the Posey Township Fire Department to search the area.
