A few months ago we talked about Powers of Attorney. These are powerful instruments which allow the Power of Attorney to "step into your shoes" and handle all of your affairs. These are generally designed to allow your designated Power of Attorney to take over when you are no longer physically and/or mentally able to handle your affairs. As these are very powerful instruments, you should only appoint person(s) who are absolutely trustworthy, able to handle your affairs competently (have good "business heads" and are "detail oriented") and, most important, someone who has your best interests in mind when he, or she, takes actions.
