Bruer's art on display at North Clay

Thursday, May 19, 2016

Devon Bruer, an eighth-grader at North Clay Middle School, is the most recent artist whose work has been purchased for the school's student art collection. His artwork has been framed and will be displayed permanently at North Clay, alongside artwork from previous years' selectees. Bruer received $50 towards a U.S. savings bond. The North Clay Student Art Collection Endowment Fund was established in 2011 by Stephen Pfrank, a retired North Clay teacher. Desiring students have more ownership of their school, Pfrank decided that two students should be rewarded each school year for their exceptional work and have it on display at the school. North Clay teachers nominate student work each semester, and a committee from outside the school determines that semester's selection. Members of the local Tri Kappa sorority have served as judges for the last five years. The endowment fund is held by the Wabash Valley Community Foundation. Donations may be sent to the Foundation at 2901 Ohio Boulevard, Suite 153, Terre Haute, 47803, with "NCMS Art Fund" on the memorandum line.
