Monday, January 16, 2017

Members of the Local Coordinating Council of Clay County met in a dinner meeting Wednesday at The Green Olive restaurant in Brazil. Governed by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, the LCC approves “mini-grants” for various programs such as the Clay County Students Against Destructive Decisions and CHANCES for Youth, said Christopher Smith, president. The Clay City Police Department, Clay County Probation Department and the Excise Police are also members of the LCC. The purpose of the group is to run programs for prevention, treatment and law enforcement in the areas of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, Smith said. The LCC annual plan must be approved by the ICJI, said Terry Cohen, coordinator for the Clay County LCC.
