Knights place six athletes on All-WIC Teams

The Northview Knights places six athletes on the Western Indiana Conference (All-WIC) teams during the winter sports calendar.
After capturing sectional championships in both boys and girls’ basketball, the Knights landed two players on each all-conference squad along with a pair of wrestlers.
Northview senior Stacy Payton, a Ball State softball commit, represents the girls’ basketball team along with Olivia Lundy.
Payton earned a spot on the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Girls’ Academic All-State First Team. The Knights’ senior finished second on the Northview girls’ career scoring list with 1,482 career points and ranked 49th all-time in the state with a total of 661 points this season. Payton also broke the single-game school scoring record with 51 points on Dec. 16 against North Putnam. In her senior campaign, Payton finished seventh in the state in scoring with 24.4 points per game this year and also averaged 9.2 rebounds for the 19-8 Knights.
Lundy averaged double digits in scoring this season as one of the front court leaders for the team. Lundy played in all 27 games and produced 12 points per game while averaging six rebounds per contest. During the postseason for the Knights, Lundy averaged seven rebounds to go with 11 points per game as Northview reached the regional for the second time in school history.
The boys’ basketball team repeated as a sectional champion and placed Drew Lumsdon and Brigham Booe on the All-WIC team.
Booe averaged a team-high 15 points per game this season with the Knights in an 18-9 campaign. He also snagged 6.5 rebounds to go with three assists per game and a team-high 63 steals. Booe shot 35-percent from 3-point range and 86-percent from the free throw line.
Lumsdon was an Academic All-State Honorable Mention this season as well as making the all-conference team for his efforts on the court. Lumsdon shot 55-percent from 2-point range and scored 12.5 points per game while grabbing 6.2 rebounds.
Austin Cook and Jacob Hendrich wrapped up their senior wrestling season in style by making the All-State Academic Team. Both wrestlers captured Western Indiana Conference wrestling titles in their respective classes. Cook placed second in the Bloomington North Sectional at 126 pounds and Hendrich was the runner-up at 182 pounds. Both wrestlers were also second-place finishers in the Bloomington South Regional.
