Please use common sense when you are driving

To the editor:

I’ve been noticing a couple of things on the streets that have me concerned. They don’t happen all the time, but it happens enough, and it happens only at intersections in town. And, here they are:

1. Turns. There is a lever on the steering column, and it performs several functions. One of these functions is it informs people in front and behind you that you intend to make a turn. I have seen many people not using this lever to make these turns.

2. There are two to three pedals on the floor of the vehicle. One is for gas, and one is for braking. If you are driving a vehicle with a stick shift there’s a clutch. The brake is used for stopping, and that is what we are supposed to do at certain intersections with a funny looking sign that says stop. Now, I have been seeing a lot of people blow right through stop signs. Some people slow down but come nowhere near stopping. Both of these are breaking the law, and sooner or later the law will catch you unless you cause an accident first. Please use your common sense. Use your turn signal and come to a complete stop at stop signs.
