Margaret Wynn (Thomas) Swanson, 54, of The Woodlands, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 5, 2017, after suffering a massive stroke.

Margaret was born March 30, 1963 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Noel Francis and Shirley June (Winter) Thomas. The family moved to Bloomfield, Indiana where Margaret attended the Bloomfield schools; graduating from Bloomfield High School with the class of 1981. After graduating with a masterís degree in geophysics from Indiana University, she moved to Houston, Texas in 1989 to pursue her career and start a family. After her son William Patrick Swanson was born, she devoted herself to the responsibilities of motherhood.

Margaretís greatest joy in life came from being a mother to Patrick; she was always proud to share his accomplishments and personal growth. She was also passionate about spending time with family and friends, laughing over old memories and making new ones. Her hobbies included; cooking, reading, journaling, encouraging and inspiring friends and family through letters, cards, phone calls and social media, genealogy, appreciating art and architecture, listening to music, playing her flute and attending musical concerts, shopping, traveling, studying nature, stargazing, astronomy, mineralogy, geology, mushroom hunting, horseback riding, hiking, camping, exploring, gardening and landscaping.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father Noel F. Thomas and infant sisters Cheryl Lynn and Carol Lynn Thomas.

Survivors include her son, William Patrick Swanson, The Woodlands, Texas; her mother Shirley Thomas of Clay City, Indiana; sisters Elizabeth Thomas (Daniel Gardner) of Bloomington, Indiana and Rebecca Thomas of Garden Grove, California; brother Noel Scot Thomas (Alicia Reed-Thomas) of Coal City, Indiana; a nephew Logan Thomas and a niece Lauren Thomas, both of Coal City, Indiana.

Visitation will be held at Lawson Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4pm-8pm.

Visitation will resume on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 9am-11am at Clay City Church of Christ, 6570 S. State Road 59, Clay City, Indiana 47841, with services following at 11am. Burial will be conducted at Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield, Indiana.
