Clay City powers past North Central in SWIAC play

The Clay City volleyball team picked up a Southwestern Indiana Conference victory over visiting North Central (Farmersburg) on Tuesday evening, 25-11, 25-8, 25-17.

The victory improves the Eels to 11-1 this season as Clay City is currently ranked ninth in Class A by IndianaPrepVolleyball.com.

Madelyn Ames passed out 18 assists and Jenna Ream posted 13 for the victorious Eels. Shaylee Swearingen added eight kills and two aces with Addie Kittle recording eight kills, seven aces and 11 digs. Avalee Jeffers added eight kills, two aces, four digs and four blocks. Emily Yocom had 11 digs for Clay City and Kara Rendant had six kills.

The junior varsity squad won 25-15, 25-3 as Kendra Wertz served up 11 aces and added three kills. Tori Schopmeyer had five kills and three aces. Hayley Walton had four assists and three aces.

The Eels travel to Riverton Parke on Thursday evening at 6 p.m.
