Kuppler Snags Top Individual Honors, SMWC Places 3rd at nationals

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Menís Golf) ĖSaint Mary-of-the-Woods College head coach Abe Nasser and the Pomeroy menís golf team has made history with their third place finish at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Golf Tournament. SMWC finished day two with a stroke count of 310 and a two day total of 611. On the individual side, Colton Kuppler was crowned the USCAA Menís Individual Champion.

Kuppler has been the most consistent of any Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College golfer and it paid off. He thrilled the crowd in a shootout with SUNY-Delhiís Russell Herbert and won his accolade with a score of 70.

Nathan Higbie and Jaret Morlan tied for eighth with scores of 76 and 77, respectively, and a two day totals of 152. Both golfers were named to the USCAA All-American Second team.

Benjamin Myers finished the second round with a score of 82 and a two day total of 157. Samuel Grimes ended day two with a score of 81 and a two day total of 164. Justin Wilson closed the second day of play with a score of 82 and a total score of 157. Rounding out the Pomeroys was Blake Bennett with a second round score of 86 and a two day total of 171.

SMWC earned off the links honors as well as Grimes and Morlan were named to the USCAA All-Academic team.
