Most children recognize him as Santa Claus by his red suit trimmed in snowy white fur. And they sit on his lap and tell him what presents they would like to receive for Christmas.

However, he appears in different forms and is dressed differently in some other nations of the world, according to local traditions.

Centuries ago, he did not have the red and white garb and for the past several years, he has worn his old world clothing to Riddell National Bank’s main branch on National Avenue in Brazil one Saturday each Christmas season.

On Saturday, he took time to talk to this reporter about his appearance.

“I wanted something different and we all see the red and white suits all the time and I wanted something a little over the top,” Father Christmas said. “My wife sewed the suit for me.”

Father Christmas has had three or four similar suits made over the past 20 years he has been making appearances in Clay County.

  • So the only ones who sat on Santa's lap were the bank employees? No kids? Says customers stopped by to greet Father Christmas. Those would have been better photo options. Show the bank with their neighbors as the ads claim
