Wyndham new parks board member

Larry Wyndham attended his first park board meeting of 2018 as its newest member. Wyndham was then elected treasurer by the other members of the board.

Brian Bemis is the new president of the four-person board. Janet McClellan is the new vice president and Carrol Evans is the secretary.

Parks Superintendent Marv Moon said Skelton tree Service has removed 27 trees from Forest Park and more than 50 need to be removed.

Skelton is actually removing some trees free of charge, Moon said.

Moon has been asked by several people why so many trees have to be removed. His answer has been that they are rotten and need to be removed before they fall, causing injury and damage.

Carrol Evans said the trees that are removed with probably be replaced in the future.

In other business:

Contracts with the YMCA, ASK Softball, Christmas in the Park, the Brazil Rotary Club, Brazil Concert Band and the Soccer Club will be reviewed by the city attorney.

The treasurer is to meet with Brazil Clerk Treasurer Karen McQueen to determine how much money is available in cash reserves that can be spent to renovate the Brazilian fountain in Forest Park.

It was announced that new playground equipment has been purchased in part with grant money and will be installed in Craig Park and Forest Park.
