Wanda June Swearingen

Wanda June Swearingen, 88, of Brazil, passed away unexpectedly, March 12, 2018 at her home.

Wanda was born on December 14, 1929, in Lawrence County, Indiana, the daughter of Alex and Dessie (Talbott) Waugh. Wanda attended Brazil High School. She married Robert Earl “Beak” Swearingen on February 16, 1951. Wanda worked for Columbia Records, in Quality Control, for several years. She retired on January 22, 1972.

She was a faithful member of the Brazil 1st Christian Church since she was a little girl and was a member of the Loyal Berean Sunday School Class. Wanda enjoyed reading. She was an avid reader of the Bible and daily devotionals. She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. She volunteered her time and resources for Rich Carmicheal at Herald of His Coming. Wanda loved cooking and will be forever remembered for her noodles and pie crust. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and listening to music, especially her old record collection.

In addition to her parents Alex and Dessie Waugh she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Earl “Beak” Swearingen and a son Steve Swearingen and a dear friend Betty Rea Drake.

Survivors include her son Robert and wife Paula Swearingen of Brazil; grandchildren: Ryan Swearingen and wife Jennifer of Brazil, Danny Swearingen and wife Ashley of Terre Haute; step-children: Ashley Iverson and husband James Terre Haute, Jayson Smith and wife Lisa of Terre Haute and Michael Smith of West Terre Haute; great-grandchildren: Zach, Luke, Emily, Ava, and Eli; step-great-grandchildren: Aden, Mia, Kaitelen, Ally, Madalyn, Jacob, Nikki, Karyzma, Kara; step-great-great-grandchildren: Avah and Melanie; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 on Friday, March 17, 2018 from 4-8pm. Services will be at the funeral home, on Saturday, at 11:00am.
