Road work ahead, please use detour
Motorists driving on S.R. 59 will find a detour on either side of the bridge at C.R. 1100E beginning as early as next week. The bridge will be replaced and Clay County Commissioners approved an unofficial detour on county roads 1050S, 100W and 1150S.
In other business, the commissioners:
•Approved 2-0 (Paul Sinders and Jim Bowman voted in the affirmative, Bryan Allender was absent) a request from Assessor Jill Bennett to make payments to Tyler Technologies. The amount of the contract was not affected but the county will make 1`2 equal payments per year.
Tyler Technologies produces software designed for “the public sector,” according to the website, such as used in the Clay county assessor’s office.
•Jim Bowman will serve as president of the county commissioners for the remainder of 2018. For the past two years, the commissioners have split that duty.
•Paul Sinders opened the meeting with thoughts on the meaning of Independence Day.
“We really need to stop and think what this day is all about,” Sinders said. “I hope we will do our part to keep America strong and keep God in our country.”
