DOC inmates help demolish unsafe and dilapidated structures
Inmates with the Indiana Department of Correction worked with members of law enforcement Monday to demolish three unwanted buildings at the Indiana Sheriff’s Youth Ranch in preparation to make room for cabins, a peace chapel, amphitheater and recreation areas. Officials said the inmate workers seemed to “enjoy doing chores” during previous projects at the facility located on SR 59, south of Brazil. A press conference Monday also announced a new, annual National Sheriffs’ Association Youth Leadership Institute will be hosted at the Youth Ranch each year for outstanding teens from across the nation who hope to pursue careers in law enforcement. Read more about that story in Friday's edition of The Brazil Times.
