Blood drive was amazing event

To the editor:

What an amazing community event. The Indiana Blood Center along with the local community recently held a blood drive in honor of Pastor Bob Kumpf. Pastor Bob recently passed away from a brain tumor but his passion for giving the gift of life through blood donation lives on.

The blood drive was held at the Center Point United Mwethodist Church; however, the event was truly a community event with many churches, local organizations and individuals coming together to make this event a huge success. Over 90 individuals registered to give blood. Several were able to give double donations so over 90 units of blood were given at a critical time. The blood supplies run low over the holidays so this was a big boost to the Blood Center’s blood supply.

Lisa Sheese and Charity Kumpf planned the event and within two weeks, the blood drive became a reality. Many who could not give blood donated snacks and made monetary donations to the drive. The Center Point Church is hoping to make this an annual event. If you were unable to give blood, it is not too late. You can still give by calling the Indiana Blood Center in Terre Huate and making an appointment to give blood in Pastor Bob’s name. Donating blood gives others the gift of life and Pastor Bob’s belief “that it is better to give than receive” lives on through this gift.
