The Brazil Public Library will celebrate Carnegie’s (the cat’s) 6th birthday at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 25, with cake and punch, cat craft, photo opportunities and Carnegie bookmarks.

There will be a live and silent auction to benefit “A Place Called Hope” in Clay City from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27 at the Goshorn Park Community Center in the Orange Buildig on the Clay City Fairgrounds. Call 352-348-4308 for more information.

Do you have an electric programmable pressure cooker, but you aren’t sure how to use it? Join us at Brazil Public Library for “Cooking Under Pressure” with Instant Pots on May 7 at 6 p.m. Speaker Hannah Helton from Purdue Extension Service will answers questions on how to use your appliance, food safety, and have healthy recipes. The Clay County Commissioners have announced that all Clay County Offices and Departments will be closed on Good Friday, April 19th. Those closing include the Courthouse, Highway Department, Extension Office, Soil and Water Conservation Office, Health Department, and WIC. All offices and departments will re-open at their regular times on Monday, April 22nd.

Brazil Main Street has decided that clean up day will be Sat. April 27, 2019 at 9 a.m. We will meet in front of City Hall. Hope to see you there.

Due to state-mandated training, the Superior and Circuit Court Clerk Offices, as well as the Election Office at the Clay County Courthouse, will be closed from 12-1 p.m. July 15-26.

This will allow the employees to take a lunch break during the mandatory training sessions for the new case management system being installed at the courthouse. Officials apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The next Bee Ridge Christian Church breakfast will be held 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 20th. A free will offering will be received to build a new building.

Catholic Charities and the Knights of Columbus will have a mobile food pantry at Cooper Tower at 10 a.m., April 25th.

The Church of Our Lord Jesus, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil is giving away 50 Easter baskets during an Easter egg hunt at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, April 21st. Look for a golden egg for a special prize.

The Bowling Green School Reunion will be held Friday, April 26th, at 6:30. Once again we will meet at the Center Point Family Life Center. There will be good food, door prizes and a great time.

The Clay County Senior Center, 120 S Franklin St, Brazil, will Jack’s “Senior Family” Fundraising Dinner starting at 5 p.m.. Saturday, April 27th. The menu this year features some of Jack’s favorites, including real-homemade chicken and noodles, Texas’ Cowboy Spaghetti and drunken gizzards. The meals include sides, a drink, and free ice cream. Baked desserts will be on sale and take home containers will be available.

Entertainment will be provided by local Elvis Presley tribute artist Eric Brown at 5-6 p.m., and then again from 7-9 p.m.

There will also be a live auction and plenty of door prizes given away throughout the night.

All funds raised during the event helps support the recreational budget at the Clay County Senior Center.

The Brazil Times is a drop-off location for used glasses and hearing aids for the Lions Club Recycle for Sight program. A drop box is located inside the Times, 531 E. National Ave., Brazil.

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter hosts support groups across the state for unpaid care partners, family members and friends of individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementia. The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety and City Council will meet on the second Wednesday of each month and on the fourth Wednesday when warranted. “Delts in Wonderland Taste Treat Luncheon” will be Saturday, April 27, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McKinley Hill Church of Christ, U.S. 40 east of Brazil.

Every day there are veterans in our community who are unable to get to their medical appointment at the Richard L. Roudebush VS Medical Center located in Indianapolis, Indiana, or to one of the Community Based Outpatient Clinics, due to lack of transportation. Serve your community by volunteering to drive Veterans to and from their medical appointments by using vans provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

On April 18th, the Brazil Public Library will have our “Books before Bedtime” night. We’ll read a few books about library cats together, make a small cat craft and do some singing and dancing. It’ll be the Cat’s Meow!

And on April 25th, we have Family Game Night. Come in to play like a Cat and Mouse with us! It’s always a fun night and we get the whole family involved.
