BREAKING: BPD seeking assistance in finding a wanted subject

Jay Samuel Ellis, 24, Reelsville, is a white male, approximately 5’01’’, 120 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Ellis is currently wanted for a Felony charge of Dealing in Methamphetamine and a Felony charge of Possession of Methamphetamine issued by the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Brazil Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a wanted subject believed connected to Saturday’s shooting at Central West Village.

Jay Samuel Ellis, 24, Reelsville, is a white male, approximately 5’01’’, 120 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Ellis is currently wanted on a warrant for a Felony charge of Dealing in Methamphetamine and a Felony charge of Possession of Methamphetamine issued by the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.

Furthermore, officials say Ellis is wanted for questioning in regards to a shooting which took place on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at approximately 9:15 p.m., in Brazil, Indiana.

Ellis should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Anyone with information on this case or the possible whereabouts of Jay Samuel Ellis is asked to call the Clay County Dispatch Center at (812)446-2535 Ext. 5.

The Brazil Police Department has been investigating the Saturday shooting since it was reported around 9 p.m. However, when officers arrived at the location, all the individuals, including the victim, had left the area.

When officers located the victim at an undisclosed location in west Clay County, the man was transported first to a Terre Haute hospital and then moved to one in Indianapolis. Although officials have confirmed the victim has been released, further details are not available at this time in an attempt to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Officials confirmed Wednesday that interviews are still being done as the investigation continues. The Brazi Times will update this story when official information is made available.
