Reunions

The Baysinger family reunion will be at Forest Park on Aug. 18th on the Northeast corner of the Cow Palace. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m.. Family and friends are invited.

The Cox family reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Shelter 1 in Rose Ann Park in Greencastle starting at noon. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish. For more information, call Jerry Cox at 765-653-6985.

The Brazil High School Class of 1969 50th reunion will at Pappy’s Corral, 105 E. National Ave., Brazil, with Social time starting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 28. Public Meeting Notices

The Board of Commissioners for the Brazil Housing Authority will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 8:30 AM at the offices of the Brazil Housing Authority at 122 W. Jackson St, Brazil.

A regular meeting of the Brazil Advisory Plan Commission will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 6 p.m. in the City Council chambers. The public is welcome to attend.

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety and City Council will meet on the second Wednesday of each month and on the fourth Wednesday when warranted. The Board of Works meets at 10 a.m., and the City Council meets at 5 p.m. Both meetings are in the council chambers in City Hall on National Avenue.

The Clay Community School Board of Trustees meets in regular session the second Thursday of each month in the Board Room of the Central Administrative Office, 1013 South Forest Avenue, Brazil. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. unless otherwise notified.

Addiction Counseling

Celebrate Recovery Meetings are held at Staunton First Christian Church from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursdays. For more information, call (812) 870-5719.

Staunton Narcotics Anonymous meetings will take place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Family Worship Center, located at 8157 N. County Road 425 W. Brazil. For more information, see www.claycountyymca.org.

The Clay County Health Department offers assistance with tobacco cessation. The department provides an 8-10 week program that features education and support as well as free nicotine patches (prescription required). For more information, call 812-448-9019.

Support Groups

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter hosts support groups across the state for unpaid care partners, family members and friends of individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementia. The groups meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. at the Vigo County Public Library, Terre Haute.

The Living with Low Vision support group will meet from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (note time change) at First United Methodist Church, 201 Meridian St., Brazil. For information contact Danny Wayne Beemer, 812-298-9455, ext. 205. Upcoming meetings on Sept. 11 and Oct. 9 will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Free Community Programs

Senior Education Ministries, Inc. has scheduled Dine with a Doc®- Clay County: the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 10a-12pm to take place at the Staunton Community Center 101 N Monroe St; Staunton, Indiana 47881--(812) 448-1487.

Cunot Community Center, 5530 S.R. 42, Poland, is having bingo every 1st and 3rd Saturday. Early bird at 6 p.m., regular bingo at 7 p.m. Call 765-795-3461 for information.


The Brazil Times is a drop-off location for used glasses and hearing aids for the Lions Club Recycle for Sight program. A drop box is located inside the Times, 531 E. National Ave., Brazil.
