Kickstands went up at the 2019 Mayor’s Ride Saturday at City Hall. Registrations were busy and event organizers said they were near reaching the $20,000 goal, but it was hard to keep up the tabulations. Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham talked with Times' Reporter Ivy Jacobs about the exciting event that supports the Clay County Humane Society.

The last total of riders participating in the event was at 80 with more in line waiting to sign up. The riders will return at approximately 6 p.m. for an after-ride party that includes a hog roast dinner, live entertainment, and a silent auction.

Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham thanked the participants of the 2019 Mayor's Ride before the event started Saturday. Although the final totals are not complete, Wyndham said he believed the $20,000 goal was surpassed.

Organizers, who set this year's fundraising goal at $20,000, expect to have a final total sometime within the next two weeks.

In the meantime, commemorative T-Shirts from the 2019 Mayor's Ride have sold out. However, shirts are available for the public to order for a second shipment until Wednesday at 4 p.m. The shirts are $20 each and will be available at City Hall when the next shipment arrives. All proceeds from the fundraiser support the local shelter.
