Marines at fish fry

A group of Marine recruits stopped by to help the Van Buren Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Fish Fry Saturday afternoon. More than 25 male and female recruits from the delayed entry program, along with several officers, at the Marine Corps Recruiting Office in Terre Haute helped prepare the fish for the event. The department members plan to serve 1,500 dinners during the fundraising event. The program has been helping out with the fundraising event for at least eight years. “They do an amazing job,” said Fire Chief Tod Haring. “It would be a lot more difficult to put this event on if they didn’t come help.”
