Become: Ready

Ephesian 6:10-24

Supplemental verses

John 16:33, John 15:5, John 8:32

Are you ready for battle? Some say the church and those within have fallen asleep. We have put down our weapons, let down our guard, lost our connection to our leader and allowed the enemy to advance into our ranks. The world does not like to admit that spiritual warfare is real. The armor of God was a neat illustration but not very practical of useful in the world today. That would be true if you and I were the ones responsible for the armor. But our role is simple. We HAVE to put it on! God alone provides, sustains and empowers this armor. If this in a new concept to you, please come and hear how God will give every one of us the resources we need to turn back and defeat the enemy. If you have laid down your weapons or failed to learn how to use, them the please join us as we explore Paul’s last words to the church in Ephesus. Be encouraged, you can not only survive this life but thrive with God.

It would be a joy for you to join us this Sunday as we finish our study of the words Paul wrote to the Church of Ephesus. You can listen to the previous messages in the series at the links below.

We want to invite anyone to come and worship with us or simply come and find out more about Jesus with us. As we pray for an opportunity to love others one step closer to Jesus.

First Baptist Church

The 34th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at First Baptist Church is approaching. Last year we served around 400 people, so many hands are needed to donate food, cook turkeys, set up, pack, deliver, serve, and clean up. Sign-up sheets are now on the bulletin board in the education wing. Volunteers from the community are always welcome. Please pitch in where you are able and make this a memorable Thanksgiving. The sit down meal will be served at 12 noon at the church on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th. Carry outs will be available at 11 a.m. and delivery is also available for residents of Cooper Towers, Jackson Gardens, and Meridian Towers. Reservations must be made by November 25th by calling the church at (812) 448-8112 and leaving a message with your call back number.

This is the last Sunday to bring filled shoeboxes to church for Operation Christmas Child. Thanks to all who participated this year by bringing your shoeboxes, or donating individual items, or cash donations, and to the Youth Group for helping pack. Marilyn Trout and her helpers will haul the shoeboxes to Union United Methodist Church to be trucked to North Carolina for preparation and shipping around the world to provide a meaningful Christmas gift for children who might otherwise receive nothing this year.

You are invited to join us at the following weekly services. Sunday School classes for all ages at the First Baptist Church begin at 9:30 a.m. Worship service follows at 10:30 a.m. with Nursery and KidMo offered for children through the 5th grade. On Wednesday, an Adult Bible Study is held at 12 noon at the YMCA and choir practice is held at the church at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, the Kid’s Klothes Kloset is open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and in the evening an Adult Bible Study and Youth Group (during the school year) for middle and high schoolers both begin at 7 p.m.

Right after Open Gym, we have Worship Uncoiled (6:00-8:00).  At Worship Uncoiled we have a full meal, a game, prizes, singing, and a short practical lesson. To get to Worship Uncoiled just go in the main doors under the big drive through awning. It is an incredible weekly event that you won’t want to miss!

Every Sunday Morning we have Sunday School for students grades 6-12.  To get to our area, just go in the doors by the big “KidZone” sign, turn left at the desk and go around the corner.
