Local non-profit organizations will be featured at the November 26 meeting of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce. It will be at noon in the YMCA Community Room. Lunch costs $10. Please bring a box of cereal for the Clay County Youth Food Delivery Program.

On November 28th at 8 a.m. the Clay County YMCA will host its annual Turkey Trot 5k run/walk. This race, which has quickly become a tradition in the Wabash Valley, is expected to bring in over 200 racers.

There will be a brief Advisory Committee meeting this Thursday, November 21st at 11 a.m. preceding the regularly-scheduled Clay County SWCD Board meeting (12:00) at the Clay Co. USDA office - please feel free to join us! (Agenda attached)

K & H Regional Sewer District will be holding our monthly meeting Monday November 25, 2019 @ 7:00 P.M. instead of Thursday November 28th, 2019. If you have any questions please contact the office at 812-420-2330.

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter hosts support groups across the state for unpaid care partners, family members and friends of individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementia. The groups meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. at the Vigo County Public Library, Terre Haute.

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety and City Council will meet on the second Wednesday of each month and on the fourth Wednesday when warranted. The Board of Works meets at 10 a.m., and the City Council meets at 5 p.m. Both meetings are in the council chambers in City Hall on National Avenue.

The Brazil Fraternal Order of Eagles #274, 122 East National Ave., Brazil, has a limited number of T-shirts for sale and will continue to collect donations on behalf of the Shop With A Cop program until Wednesday, Nov. 27 to reach their goal of $7,000. Senior Education Ministries, Inc. has scheduled Dine with a Doc®- Clay County: the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon to take place at the Staunton Community Center 101 N Monroe St; Staunton, Indiana 47881--(812) 448-1487.

The Clay County Genealogy Library in Center Point is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Society meets every third Tuesday at 1 p.m.; the public is welcome to attend. For additional information, contact volunteers at 812-835-5005 when the library is open.

Cunot Community Center, 5530 S.R. 42, Poland, is having bingo every 1st and 3rd Saturday. Early bird at 6 p.m., regular bingo at 7 p.m. Call 765-795-3461 for information.


The third annual Chocolate Walk is set for December 7th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Clay City. Clay City USA is sponsoring the event. There will only be 250 tickets available.

A fund raiser for the YMCA Clay County Youth Food Delivery Program will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1875 US Hwy 40, Brazil, Indiana. This event will allow us to feed kids over Christmas Break in all of Clay County. Thank you to Lisa Beyers, Caroline Allen, Elizabeth Coley, Kaylee McCollum and Betsy Stevenson for dreaming up the first event last year and now holding the second “annual” event. 4-H enrollment is now open for everyone to join (grades K-12). They can visit in.4honline.com to join, or come into the Extension Office. Mini 4-H (grades K-2) is FREE and regular 4-H (grades 3-12) is $15.

The Clay Community School Board of Trustees meets in regular session the second Thursday of each month in the Board Room of the Central Administrative Office, 1013 South Forest Avenue, Brazil. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. unless otherwise notified.

Celebrate Recovery Meetings are held at Staunton First Christian Church from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursdays. For more information, call (812) 870-5719.

Staunton Narcotics Anonymous meetings will take place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Family Worship Center, located at 8157 N. County Road 425 W. Brazil. For more information, see www.claycountyymca.org.

The First Presbyterian Church in Brazil will serve dinner from 5-5:30 p.m. every Sunday. The free dinners are available to anyone in the community, and to-go boxes are available. The church is located at 210 N. Walnut St., Brazil.

The Brazil Church of the Nazarene Children’s Clothes Closet is located at 1002 E. National Ave. To place an order for a needy child, call the church office at 812-446-0371.

First Baptist Church Kid’s Kloset, 413 S. Walnut St., Brazil, is open most Thursdays from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Call the church office, 812-448-8112, to make an appointment. If no answer, leave a message with a name and number, sizes and gender of each child and the type of clothing they need.

The Brazil Times is a drop-off location for used glasses and hearing aids for the Lions Club Recycle for Sight program. A drop box is located inside the Times, 531 E. National Ave., Brazil.

The Clay County Health Department offers assistance with tobacco cessation. The department provides an 8-10 week program that features education and support as well as free nicotine patches (prescription required). For more information, call 812-448-9019.

Marion “Sarge” Eveland is asking people to donate wheelchairs in good condition for the hotel where Veterans stay in Indianapolis before receiving medical treatment. If you can help, please call Sarge at 812-448-2873.

Clay Community Schools Central Curriculum Committee will meet on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Clay Community Schools Central Administration Office. Items on the agenda include the review and vote to accept or reject high school course changes for the 2020-2021 school year.
