Berea Christian Church

Looking for a place to take the family on Christmas Eve? Berea will be hosting a Christmas Eve service at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome!

The Wonder of Christmas: Wonder if it will ever happen?   Waiting on Jesus...

Luke 2:22-38

“The older we get, the harder it is to fill our hearts with wonder, and only God can fill our hearts with wonder.”   Ravi Zacharias

What we need most from Christmas is the hope the first Christmas still brings.  That hope lasts far longer than a season. Have you lost the wonder that surrounded the 1st Christmas? If no one has every shared with you the wonder and amazement that surrounded the coming of Jesus we pray that this Christmas God will lead you to a place to discover just what it means.

If you are a believer and the weight of this world has taken the wonder and awe of our incredible God and the coming of His Son, then we pray that this Christmas that childlike wonder can be restored for you

This week we will discover the hope of Simeon and the heart of Anna.  Two people who are barely mentioned in the scriptures. Two people whose hope in and heart for God should inspire us all.

We pray that God will lead you to a church this Christmas season to celebrate not only the birth of Jesus but the life, the death and the resurrection of your Savior as well. If you do not have a church to call home, we pray that God just might lead you our way. You are invited to come and worship with us. We are praying for an opportunity to love you one step closer to Jesus.

Upcoming Events: The children will participate in the Sunday Morning Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. on December 15th.

Come see what surprise they have prepared. There will be a pitch-in dinner following the service that day. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the education wing to ensure we do not all bring green bean casserole.

Also, December 15th is the deadline to bring Christmas cards for the exchange. Rather than mail cards to your fellow church goers, just bundle them up alphabetically, bring them to church, and place them in the boxes set up near the doors. They will be sorted and ready for pick-up on December 22nd.

On Thursday, December 19th at 7 p.m., we will offer a Blue Christmas service specifically designed for folks mourning the loss of a loved one. And on Tuesday, December 24th at 7 p.m., there will be a Christmas Eve Service to reflect on the birth of our savior.

You are invited to join us at the following weekly services. Sunday School classes for all ages at the First Baptist Church begin at 9:30 a.m. Worship service follows at 10:30 a.m. with Nursery and KidMo offered for children through the 5th grade. On Wednesday, an Adult Bible Study is held at 12 noon at the YMCA and choir practice is held at the church at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, the Kid’s Klothes Kloset is open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and in the evening an Adult Bible Study and Youth Group (during the school year) for middle and high schoolers both begin at 7 p.m.

First Baptist Church is located at 413 South Walnut Street. The church phone number is (812) 448-8112. Our interim pastor is the Rev. Dr. Mark W. Hetrick. His cell is (317) 697-2485 and email is revdocmark@sbcglobal.net. The church website is www.brazilbaptistchurch.com.

First Christian Church

This Sunday, our senior minister, Chris Gregg, invites you to come and join us as we celebrate Christmas. Our Christmas sermon series is “Above All Names” our sermon this Sunday is “Wonderful Counselor”. Do you have a good counselor?

We are located on the west edge of Brazil, on US Highway 40, and have two worship services each Sunday morning. Our 8:30 am service is an upbeat, traditional service. Our 10:50 am service is an uplifting and inspiring contemporary service. Our dress is informal, our worship is intentional, and our message is eternal.

Please come and be our guest. Sunday School and Adult Bible Fellowship Classes are at 9:40 am. Our website is www.fccbrazil.org, and our phone number is 812-446-2214.

WeeKidz, our preschool ministry, meets in the east wing of the church during both the 9:40 am Sunday School hour and the 10:50 am worship service.

Children infant-preschool learn about our best friend, Jesus, in a fun and safe environment. KidZone, our elementary worship ministry, will meet in the gym of the Family Life Center during both the 9:40 am Sunday School hour and the 10:50 am worship service. KidZone is a fun, welcoming, engaging, and modern environment for kids K-5th grade! Kids can expect to watch videos, play games, color, sing, dance, and so much more in KidZone!

This weekend we will not have Open Gym or Worship Uncoiled because we have The Journey here at church.

Normally for students grades 6-12, on Sunday Nights we have Open Gym and Worship Uncoiled. Open Gym (5-6) is a relaxed time where you can come, hang out with friends, shoot some hoops and play some dodgeball.

To get to Open Gym enter the doors right under the “Family Life Centre” sign. Right after Open Gym, we have Worship Uncoiled (6-8). At Worship Uncoiled we have a full meal, a game, prizes, singing, and a short practical lesson.

To get to Worship Uncoiled just go in the main doors under the big drive through awning. It is an incredible weekly event that you won’t want to miss!

Every Sunday Morning we have Sunday School for students grades 6-12. To get to our area, just go in the doors by the big “KidZone” sign, turn left at the desk and go around the corner.

We are getting very close to “The Journey” which will be presented this weekend, December, 6, 7, 8 from 6 – 9 pm. The event is free to the public.

Everyone who takes ‘The Journey’ will step into the true story of Christmas. They will hear the prophecy of the Messiah and see the excitement and anticipation of its fulfillment; and experience the people, places and circumstances that surrounded the birth of Jesus. Worship Arts Director Jeannie Price said, “The best way I can describe The Journey is that it is a ‘progressive drama’.

The story doesn’t take place on one stage. Instead it is spread over our entire campus.” You will see Roman soldiers, the scribes, the animals and the shepherds. Hear the angels, visit with the Wisemen, and encounter many others along the way to Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.
