COURTESY - Jeffrey Brown, 41, Greencastle: Anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts is asked to call Putnam County Dispatch at 653-5115 immediately or contact their own local law enforcement agency. Officials urge the public not to approach Brown or confront him, as he may be dangerous.

Law enforcement officials from two counties are still looking for a suspect wanted on multiple warrants and involved in a pursuit and search last week.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Tuesday the search for Jeffrey Brown, 41, Greencastle, continues. Brown is a white male, 6-feet-4-inches tall, weighs 195 pounds, has brown hair, green eyes, and a large tattoo on the left side of his neck.

Brown has two active warrants, one for failure to appear in Clay Superior Court on charges of residential entry, and two counts of criminal mischief (issued Dec. 26, 2019), and another out of Putnam County for possession of a handgun without a license.

Anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts is asked to call Putnam County Dispatch at 653-5115 immediately or contact their own local law enforcement agency.

Brown was last seen while involved in a pursuit with law enforcement, Jan 8.

The pursuit began around noon last Wednesday when detectives attempted to stop Brown while driving his pickup truck in Greencastle. However, he refused and fled the scene with officers from Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Greencastle Police, Cloverdale Police, Indiana State Police, Indiana Conservation Officers, and ultimately members of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department actively involved in the pursuit.

At one point, Brown wrecked his vehicle at a train bridge, then he stole another nearby vehicle from a company working on that bridge to continue to avoid law enforcement. The accident caused problems, blocking the road, for law enforcement, who had to take a detour around the accident scene and attempt to find Brown.

An Indiana State Police helicopter was useful during the pursuit, which continued when an officer located Brown a short while later.

After driving down numerous county roads, Brown finally stopped in the area of the Croy Creek Church and fled on foot into the nearby wooded area. A perimeter was set up by the officers, and multiple K9 units were utilized in the subsequent search that lasted hours, but officials were unable to locate Brown.

Officials urge the public not to approach Brown or confront him, as he may be dangerous.
