Berea Christian Church

We are in a series based on the book “Too Much: Living with less in the land of more” (https://e2elders.org/product/too-much/). God has challenged us to begin the new year by studying the 4 Biblical principles of Gratitude, Contentment, Humility and Trust. We will pair these principles with 4 real life applications, that of debt free living, saving, budgeting and giving. God desires for His people to honor Him in all areas of their lives. Including their finances. If you were unable to be a part of last week’s service you can catch up online by listening to the podcast or watching on youtube (see the links below).

How rich are we? If you have a moment and internet access neaby go to http://www.globalrichlist.com Type in your info and compare yourself with the rest of the world. The results made me think…a lot.

This week our study takes us to a 16-year-old King of Israel. Who lived a long life and had an incredibly successful rein as king, until. Until he became powerful. Does our pride play a role in our financial difficulties? Are we pursuing the things we need or financing the things we want? Are we willing to intentionally go to a place that is different from those around us? Are we willing to humble ourselves and live a different lifestyle? Are we willing to stop the pursuit of more and find contentment in all that God provides? I pray you will join us as we consider these things and more this Sunday.

At the conclusion of this series, Berea will be offering Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. This is an incredible tool that has helped millions of individuals and families in their financial lives. If you would like more information about the course, please visit this Sunday or contact the church office. You can register online with the following link or on our facebook page. This course is open to anyone in the community (http://fpu.com/1110884).

As the new year begins, would you consider joining us on this journey? While this series is dealing with financial freedom that can be found through Biblical principles, this is only a small taste of the freedom that is offered through Jesus Christ. If you have not heard of or not accepted the freedom Jesus is offering you we pray that God just might lead you our way. You are invited to come and hear about God’s love for you. We are praying for an opportunity to love you one step closer to Jesus.

Upcoming Events: The Missions Committee is planning a dinner for January 26th immediately after Sunday Morning Worship. Current plans are for a soup and potato bar. You may bring a dessert of your choice. Donations for missions will be appreciated. A Family Fun Night will be held at 6 p.m. on January 31st. Bring a game and a pitch-in dish and enjoy a night of food and fellowship.

The Youth Group will be collecting items for Operation Christmas Child throughout the year this year, rather than do it all last minute. For January they have asked that folks bring noisemakers or musical instruments that will fit in a shoebox. Each month they will announce a different item so over the course of the year they will collect hygiene items, school supplies, toys, and shipping costs. There will be a tote at the back of the sanctuary to drop off your items.

You are invited to join us at the following weekly services. Sunday School classes for all ages at the First Baptist Church begin at 9:30 a.m. Worship service follows at 10:30 a.m. with Nursery and KidMo offered for children through the 5th grade. The Little Historic Church at Carbon

Keeping The Flood Away With P150

Thanks to P150 and everyone who braved the watery elements to gather at the Little Church last Friday night. We had a wonderful time! Faithful P150 fans enjoyed a spirited and fun concert. Jeff Bridgewater, lay down his digital soundboard, picked up a mic and joined Mary Jo & David Archer and Karen Boes on the stage. The Gaither song, Because He Lives, rang loud and clear, filling the sanctuary.

A bit later, Mary Jo summoned Eugene Krantz up while everyone sang I’ll Fly Away. Eugene, half brazen, half bashful, shared Mary Jo’s mic and sang along. Near the end of the concert, David Archer called on young Kristan Norris. Kristan then made her stage debut with the song, Your Cries Have Awoken The Master. It was quite lovely.

The heavy rains that night may have nearly surrounded the little church. Was it the faith and love inside that kept the waters at bay? Or was the flooding storm just plain finished? God only knows.

Peniel United Methodist Church

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. - Psalm 40:2-3

You are invited to join us at Peniel United Methodist Church this Sunday,

January 19th, the Second Sunday after Epiphany. Sunday School classes are offered for both children and adults. Classes begin at 10 a.m. and related seasonal crafts are offered on occasion for the children.

Our Worship Service begins at 11 a.m. and is accompanied by a traditional choir. Our Worship Service welcomes children and Pastor Kent provides engaging Children’s Moments that both delight and challenge the kids!

Fellowship Hall between 12:15-1 p.m. We also collect plastic caps and container lids for local recycling programs as well as aluminum pull tabs from cans.
