Coronavirus update for Tuesday, April 7

*The Clay County Health Department updated the confirmed cases of COVID-19 to nine Tuesday afternoon. Eight of the unidentified patients are currently in self-isolation at home, while one case is hospitalized.

*Northview High School Class of 2003 Class Reunion scheduled for April 12th at Bad Apple Saloon in Cory has been postponed due to COVID-19. A new date is scheduled for September 4th at the same location, same start time (6 p.m.) For more information, contact Deana Batchelor at 812-917-9007.

*The Bowling Green school reunion set for April 24th has been canceled for this year, said Linda Schiele.

*Pastor Jeff Bridgwater invites the public to attend Drive-Thru Church Services Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot at Bee Ridge Congregational Church. The church is located at 3010 West County Road 1000 North.

*The Clay County Redevelopment Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 15 at 6 PM has been canceled.

*Notice is hereby given that the regular session meeting of the Board of Trustees of Clay Community Schools that was scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2020, has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

*Indiana Sheriff’s Youth Ranch has postponed all activities through the summer.

*Gov. Eric Holcomb issued new updates to the Stay-At-Home Order, Executive Order, 20-18, which takes effect Monday, April 6 at 11:59 p.m. To allow retail, campgrounds and other establishments to make adjustments, enforcement will not begin until 24 hours after the order takes effect. This new order ends on Monday, April 20, at 11:59 p.m., but could be extended if the outbreak warrants it. This order is mandatory. For the safety of all Hoosiers, people must stay home and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

*The Indiana Primary Election date has been moved from May 5 to June 2.

*The Loyalty Day Parade has been canceled.

*The Brazil Public Library closed until further notice. For further details, check out their Facebook page or log on to the library website at Brazil.lib.in.us

*Clay City Jr/Sr High School Principal Jeff Bell announced the school is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Thursday, April 16th. It will be held at the Clay City United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall – just a block west of school at 610 Washington St. Appointments must be scheduled in advance, log onto donate.indiana.versiti.org/ for more information. In this time of chaos and vulnerability – THIS IS A WAY WE CAN SHOW POWER AND HELP PEOPLE. Blood Drives are ESSENTIAL per the State of Indiana’s mandate.

*Indiana State Board of Education has released the Indiana Graduation Requirement Response to COVID-19 Flexibility plan. It is posted online at www.thebraziltimes.com.
