Clay County 2019 Payable 2020 Tax Statements have been mailed

The first (Spring) installment of 2020 taxes is due May 11, 2020 and the second (Fall) installment will be due Nov. 10, 2020.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak the Clay County Courthouse is closed to the public through Monday, April 20th.

DUE TO COVID-19 WE ASK TAXPAYERS TO PAY BY THESE OPTIONS:

1.MAIL – Remit Payment to Clay County Treasurer, 609 E. National Ave., Room 101, Brazil, IN 47834
2.DROP BOX - A payment drop box is available at the Clay County Courthouse ramp entrance door on Alabama Street.
3.LOCAL BANKS – First Farmers Bank, First Financial Bank, Terre Haute Savings Bank, Riddell National Bank will accept payments with your tax coupon.
4.ONLINE – Pay by credit/debit card at www.claytax.net (a convenience fee will be assessed.)

Per Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb’s Executive Order on March 19, 2020, “Property taxes remain due on May 11, 2020, however counties are to waive penalties on payments made after May 11, 2020, for a period of 60 days. Therefore, the spring installment may be paid up to and including July 10, 2020 without penalty. However, taxpayers are encouraged to make timely payments (that is, on or before May 11, 2020) in order to ensure orderly operations of government.
