Community blood drive hosted by Clay City High School
Community blood drive hosted by Clay City High School
We are reaching out to our communities to help patients in their time of need. We must continue to collect blood products for those in need. Several community partners have stepped up to help in our time of need to ensure the community blood supply remains strong by hosting a Community Blood Drive.
Clay City High School has graciously allowed Versiti Blood Center (formerly Indiana Blood Center) to continue with their previously planned blood drive on Thursday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., however it will be held at First United Methodist Church at 610 Washington Street in their Fellowship Hall.
We are most grateful for this partnership.
We are asking that healthy donors help in this time of need.
Although elective surgeries are being canceled in many hospitals, there is still a great need for blood for those patients battling leukemia, sickle cell anemia, automobile accidents, premature births to name a few.
Please sign-up via the link at bottom of page to help ensure we keep our blood supply strong. No Walk-ins will be allowed.
We are taking extra steps during our blood drives to ensure safety: Please see the link below to learn about those steps we are taking to keep donors safe. Many of you may have seen the message from the US Surgeon General encouraging people to continue to donate blood. In addition, we are covered under Executive Order in Indiana as “essential.” (See attached-section 9) Please also find a letter for Indiana Donors that you may print and bring with you as you travel to and from the blood drive.

Community members are being urged to schedule and/or keep their blood donation appointments to ensure an adequate blood supply.
It is critically important that healthy individuals continue to donate to minimize disruptions to the blood supply and ensure blood is available. “The patients in our communities and our hospital partners rely on the generosity of donors for this precious resource,” said Versiti Chief Medical Officer Tom Abshire, M.D. “The donation process itself poses no risk of infecting a donor with coronavirus. Donors and our blood drive sponsors should be reassured that attending organized blood drives is safe. Coronavirus is currently not known to infect patients through blood transfusions.”
