Senior Spotlight: Emme Morris

Tuesday, May 19, 2020

Athlete’s name: Emme Morris

Years participating in the sport: 10 years total

Parents/Guardians: Angie Smock and Michael Morris

Future plans: I plan to attend Concord University in Athens, WV to major in Computer Science and play softball. Hopefully I will get into a Master’s program somewhere for software engineering/cyber security and then become a Security Software Engineer and start my own Cyber Security Company.

Favorite memory: My favorite memory from high school softball was sophomore year. THS had lost to Mooresville in previous years and in regular season, but we came out with a win in the sectionals that year.

Biggest inspiration: My biggest inspiration to keep on with softball and my education would have to be my Papa. He passed away in 2015 before he could watch me accomplish so much. A lot of what I do is for him.

What you love most about your team: I didn’t get the chance to actually play with Northview, but I did practice with them and I loved everyone’s motivation and energy for the upcoming season. There was nothing but good vibes and positive attitudes from the girls. It was empowering to be apart of the group in the little time I got to spend with them.

Coach Kathy Vossmer on Morris: I never got the privilege of getting to coach Emme for more than a few open gyms and the first week of practice; however, I was impressed with her work ethic. Even more so, I was impressed with her leadership in taking aside younger athletes to mentor them and assist in their skill development. Even though I did not have the opportunity to coach Emme through her senior season, I will continue to follow her as she pursues her softball career at Concord University in West Virginia.
