Clay County Sheriff’s Department officials confirm escaped inmate from Clay County Justice Center Timothy Biddy, 59, was taken into custody after police pursuit in Terre Haute minutes ago.

Although details are minimal, Chief Deputy Josh Clarke confirmed Biddy was taken into custody near 25th, Locust and Beech streets after a pursuit involving members of Indiana State Police, Vigo County Sheriff's and Terre Haute Police departments. Biddy was allegedly driving a stolen car at the time of the incident.

Biddy is currently being transported to the Clay County Justice Center for booking on a warrant for escape charges. Any charges involved in the pursuit, if filed, would be up to authorities in Vigo County.

On Sunday night, Biddy fled from the Justice Center on foot, traveling west, wearing a white T-shirt, striped pants, white socks, and black sandals. An investigation into the circumstances of how Biddy escaped the facility at 10:45 p.m. Sunday is underway. The corrections officer who had taken Biddy and another unidentified inmate outside for a trash detail was placed on administrative leave.

This story will be updated should the Clay County Sheriff’s Department releases official information.
