Local data about how COVID-19 affecting Clay County residents

As the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Clay County tipped over 100 this week, the Clay County Health Department provided localized data about how the pandemic affected residents.

DISTRICT 7 Clay County - https://www.coronavirus.in.gov/

Clay County Health Nurse Kim Hyatt provided the following information:

• The overall total of positive COVID-19 tests reported for residents in Clay County was 104 at 3 p.m. Thursday. However, Hyatt confirmed many tests had been reported to the local health department, but the lab results have not returned yet, so the number can change at any time.

• The patients have been 55 female, and 49 males, with the youngest being 2-years-old and the oldest 89.

• There have been a total of 16 patients admitted to the hospital treatment of COVID-19 (No record was available for those treated in the emergency room and released.) with five deaths reported.

• Most patients, 87, live in the northern part of the county around Brazil, with 17 patients reported in the southern region in Clay City, Cory, Center Point, and Bowling Green.

• There are 22 patients are currently in self-isolation; the remaining 77 cases are either in recovery or recovered.

According to data provided Thursday for District 7 positive cases the Wabash Valley included:

• VIGO - 543 Positive Cases among the 10,683 tested, with 10 deaths.

• PUTNAM - 277 Positive Cases among the 3,743 tested, with eight deaths.

• GREENE - 241 Positive Cases among the 3,493 tested, with 34 deaths.

• CLAY - 104 Positive Cases among the 2,450 tested, with five deaths.

• SULLIVAN - 91 Positive Cases among the 2,168 tested, with one death.

• OWEN - 83 Positive Cases among the 2,510 tested, with one death.

• PARKE - 50 Positive Cases among the 1,261 tested, with one death reported.

• VERMILLION - 48 Positive Cases among the 1,285 tested, with no deaths reported.

District 7 shows a positive COVID-19 test rate at 8.4 percent, with the total of residents tested at 27,539 (382 new test results) and confirmation of a total 1,437 cases, with 72 new cases reported since Monday. An overall total of 60 deaths has been reported in District 7.

The ISDH reports overall 71.015 positive cases among the 6.7 million Indiana residents, with 804,345 residents tested, 1,051 new positive cases reported, and 2,811 deaths reported. The state’s data suggests that the increasing number of Indiana residents tested has lowered the overall percentage of Indiana residents to 7.4 percent. (New data regarding a daily positivity test rate has a preliminary rate of 8.8 percent. The data is considered provisional, reflecting only the information published to the ISDH.)

On Monday, Indiana residents whose physician listed their death with COVID-19 as a contributing cause at 202: Deaths diagnosed by medical staff based on X-rays, scans, and other clinical symptoms with the absence of a COVID-19 test. ISDH reported a total of 1.009 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 throughout Indiana.
