COVID-19 has caused many events to be canceled or restricted during 2020; a Brazil family has decided to go all out for Halloween.

The public is invited to stop by the week before Halloween to visit or take pictures at a spooky and fun display featuring a 12-foot tall skeleton and all his colorful friends at Sheri and Kenny Archer’s home at 110 East Chestnut Street.

The design was put up earlier this month to see how it looked but taken down to go on a spooky camping trip to Shakamak State Park.

The Archers said the display has evolved over the past 10 years to include a “skeleton punk rock band” complete with an audience and flowers, most of which were “created or spruced up” by Sheri.

The family enjoyed creating spooky holiday displays years ago at their home while their son was younger but stopped and only decorated while camping. However, 2020 and COVID-19 has been a let-down, and they decided to have some fun and share it with others at Halloween.

“Nighttime is a good time to visit,” said Kenny. “She’s got it all lit up. Be a great time to take pictures.”

Sheri agrees but says people need to be careful while walking around at night.

“I just wanted something fun for the holidays,” said Sheri. “I wanted something that would be a little spooky but fun for everyone.”

It takes about three to four hours to put the display back up and make sure all the lighting works. The couple expects to have it completed and working around October 23 or 24 for public viewing.
