40 Days in the Word…

This week we will continue our journey to learn how to study the Word of God together as the Body of Christ. The Bible is the most read book, most translated, even the best-selling book in history. But how do we see what God wants us to see?

Have you ever thought this: “I just never get anything out of the Bible. When I read it seems boring, dry. I don’t understand it. It doesn’t make sense. I don’t know what the big deal about it is. I just don’t know what I am supposed to see?” If you’ve ever felt that way then this would be a great weekend to come to church. We are going to look at how God wants to open His Word up to you and how you can start seeing what God wants you to see. This is the process of illumination

What is illumination? Letting the Holy Spirit show us the meaning of God’s Word and how it applies to my life. The brighter the light of the Spirit on the Word, the more clearly we will be able to see what God wants us to see.

We pray that you will consider joining us as we study God’s Word together! If you are able it would be a blessing to see you Sunday at 10:00 A.M.. If you cannot attend in person then please join us live online.

First Baptist Church

Please join us this Sunday October 25 for donuts prior to Sunday School. During Sunday Morning Worship the Rev. Dr. Quentin Madden will continue his series “Is That in the Bible?” with his sermon titled “The Test” based on the text Genesis 22:1-14.

You may participate in Sunday Morning Worship in-person or by remaining in your car in the church parking lot and tuning to 88.9 FM radio or by watching the service live streamed on Facebook or recorded on the church website at: http://www.brazilbaptistchurch.net under the Worship tab. Past sermons are under the Media tab.

We are working on plans for resuming an in-person Bible Study in early November, another Family Fun Night in mid-November, and the big Thanksgiving Dinner so watch for updates in future columns.

The Youth Group are still collecting items for shoe boxes as part of Operation Christmas Child. You may help them by placing hygiene items, school supplies, and toys for children age 2-14 in the red tote at the back of the sanctuary. Donations for shipping would also be accepted. Shoe boxes are normally shipped in mid-November so don’t let time slip away to provide a Christmas gift to children who might otherwise get none.

If your children need school clothes please call the church office and leave a message with your name and phone number. A volunteer from the Children’s Clothes Closet will return your call and arrange to meet your needs.

You are invited to join us at the following weekly services: Sunday School classes for kindergarten through adults at First Baptist Church begin at 9:30 a.m. Worship service follows at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available. Tuesday at 7 p.m. a Bible study is held via Zoom. On Thursday evening Youth Group for middle and high schoolers begins at 7 p.m. (when school is in session).
