Social distancing and masks were worn due to the COVID-19 pandemic during the annual Clay County Veterans Day program at the courthouse Wednesday.

While recognizing military servicemen and women for the sacrifices, the veterans took the time to show their appreciation for all of the various first responders out there on the "front lines of the world-wide health crisis," as well as members of the public who attended the program.

From the second floor of the courthouse, Jackson Township Band Director Matt Huber remarked as the world was faced the first pandemic 100 years ago the Clay County Courthouse looked exactly the same as it did today, and he thanked the local officials and the custodians for taking such good care of the building.

The band was proud to perform the new theme song - "Space Force Anthem" - in honor of the U.S. Space Force, the 6th independent U.S. military service branch, tasked with missions and operations in the rapidly evolving space domain.
