Clay County Humane Society now taking clients by appointment only

Wednesday, November 25, 2020

Effective immediately, the Clay County Humane Society is going back to visitations and adoptions by appointment only.

Masks are required to enter the building (no exceptions).

This change is due to the rising positive cases in Clay County and the surrounding areas and possible direct exposures at the shelter.

“We MUST keep our staff and managers healthy in order to continue caring for our animals,” manager Lindsay Stevenson said in a Facebook post. “We are a very small staff. If we get sick there is no one else to take care of them.”

Stevenson suggests anyone in need of assistance for dog food, a situation which she has seen a great deal lately, to call ahead of time.

“If we have it, we will sit it by the front door with your name on it,” she said. “If you would like to help our community with food assistance with donations and all other donations please use our donation box directly in front of our building.”
