Clay County rated ‘orange’ by ISDH; cases on decline

While Clay County is currently designated ORANGE (with a rating of 2.5) by the Indiana State Department of Health, the data reports show COVID-19 positive cases are declining with the newest data available as of Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.

Data shows new tests administered were 156 (the overall total is 13,442 tests), with 25 new positive cases, bringing the overall local total to 1,351.

The total deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in March is 25, with the two most recent recorded on Nov. 27 and 28th.

Of those reported as dying from COVID-19, ISDH confirms 56% were female, with 44% male, and all were apparently over 60.

Those dying in the age of 60-69 category total 20%.

Those in the 70-79 age group total of 12%.

Those who were 80+ dying of COVID-19 are recorded at 68%.

Among those tested positive for COVID-19 above 60 are 31.3% of the 1,351 positive cases since March.

The Times has been updated locally by administrators of the four local long term care facilities - including Cloverleaf Healthcare of Knightsville, Exceptional Living Center of Brazil & Towne Park Assisted Living, Villas of Holly Brook Indiana — about COVID-19 data. Only 12 residents are reported to have died from COVID-19 at an LTC facility as of Nov. 27.

The Times will update the LTC Data when it becomes available.
