For the 2021-2022 school year, the first day of school for students in Clay Community Schools will be Monday, August 9. Teachers will report on Thursday, August 5, at Northview High School for a general organizational meeting.

The CCS 2021-22 School Year Reentry Plan will be posted on the school corporation website following School Board approval and will be available for viewing at www.clay.k12.in.us, under the CCS Roadmap Information tab. You may refer to the website for updates throughout the school year.

All elementary principals will be available in their building as of Wednesday, July 28th. If you have any questions, please contact the school in which your child is enrolled. Please view information on each school’s web site.

Registration times for new students will be as follows for all elementary schools:

Wednesday, July 28: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Thursday, July 29: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Friday, July 30: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Monday, August 2: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tuesday, August 3: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Wednesday, August 4 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Thursday, August 5 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Friday, August 6 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

NOTE: Due to new hire training at Jackson Township Elementary on Wednesday, August 4th, that school will be open only between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on that date.

Transportation Department:

Questions regarding bus transportation can be answered by calling the transportation office at 812-442-7121.

The CCS Transportation Department is currently working on bus routes for the 2021-2022 school year. The Transportation Department is REQUIRING ALL NEW STUDENTS and STUDENTS WITH ROUTING CHANGES to register online.

The online form can be found on the Clay Community School website at www.clay.k12.in.us in the Transportation section or scan QR code. This form MUST be filled out for NEW students requiring transportation, or changes in their transportation, and those that DO NOT require transportation.

Drivers will assign seats based on the student registrations. As per CDC mandate, masks will be required on all buses at this time. To help safeguard our students and drivers, all buses will be disinfected after each route.

The schedules for enrolling, school visitations, paying textbook rental, etc. for Clay City Jr/Sr High School, Northview High School, and North Clay Middle School:

Clay City: Class schedules and other back-to-school information for students in grades 7-12 can be picked up in the Main Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, July 26th, through Monday, August 2nd. Any information not picked up by the end of the day on Monday, August 2nd, will be mailed to students. Textbook rental will be collected once all class assignments are finalized.

The school’s Main Office resumes regular hours and schedule beginning Thursday, July 22nd.

Beginning Monday, July 26th, new students may register in the guidance office. Also, students/parents with questions about schedules can call the school at 812-939-2154 to schedule an appointment with a counselor July 26th – August 6th.

7th Grade Orientation will be held in The Eel Dome on Tuesday, August 3rd, at 6:30 p.m.

All students, except for grade 7, will report to their first period classes on Monday, August 9th. Seventh grade students will report to the Auditeria. All students will receive lockers/combinations and other pertinent information at a Homeroom session after 1st period on August 9th.

Northview:

Beginning Monday, July 26th, any new student needing to enroll may call Northview (812-448-2661) to arrange a scheduling meeting. New students may also start the enrollment process on the school’s website (www.clay.k12.in.us, then “Our Schools”, then “Northview High School”, then “I’m looking for…2021-2022 Northview High School Enrollment Form”)

There will be a Freshmen Orientation for all incoming freshmen on August 4th in the auditorium. Students should plan to meet from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. to receive their schedules, meet with counselors, and tour the building. Parents are invited to an informational meeting in the auditorium from 6:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.

All students should report to first period on Monday, August 9th, where they will receive their schedules.

There will be no class schedule changes except to correct a schedule mistake or balance classes as per the policy in the Course Description Booklet.

All scheduling questions can be answered after school starts by signing up to see your counselor.

Textbook rental will be collected once all class assignments are finalized.

The policy for backpacks and purses changed beginning with the 2007-2008 school year. Backpacks must be kept in lockers. Purses can be no larger than the average textbook.

North Clay Middle School:

Questions regarding scheduling can be addressed with Greg Burns, NCMS Guidance Director. His e-mail address is burnsg@clay.k12.in.us. His phone number is 812-448-1530 (ext. 1005).

Students will be able to come to North Clay to pick up schedules and locker information and walk through the building on Tuesday, August 3rd, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 4th, from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Administrators and counselors will be available to answer questions, and student Ambassadors will be there to lead tours and answer questions as well. Schedules will also be able to be accessed on PowerSchool. New enrollment can be done using enrollment forms located on the CCS webpage (www.clay.k12.in.us, then “Our Schools”, then “Student Enrollment” tab, then “New Student Enrollment (2021-2022 School Year).

Immunizations:

All pre-school, kindergarten and students new to Clay Community Schools should bring a copy of their completed immunization record to school when enrolling.

Breakfast, Lunch Prices:

Lunches can be paid online at www.myschoolbucks.com. Free & Reduced Meal Benefits applications are available online at www.claycs.schoollunchapp.com.

The prices for breakfast and lunch for the 2021-2022 school year are as follows:

Elementary Breakfast$1.25 Elementary Lunch $2.70

Middle & High School Breakfast $1.35 Middle & High School Lunch $2.80

Adult Breakfast$2.25 Adult Lunch$3.75

Extra Milk 30¢

Breakfast/lunch charges are no longer allowed at the middle school or high school level.

For elementary students, three charges will be allowed, but students will be asked to pay for those charges. Students without money for meals after charges are accumulated will be provided with a peanut butter/jelly sandwich and milk.

At this time, Clay Community Schools will be participating in the federal program offering free meals for all students again this school year.
