IVY JACOBS PHOTO - Brazil resident Colin Phillips, 10, is raising money to take a trip to South America next summer by selling sweet corn.

Four young entrepreneurs are working and selling a yellow and white hybrid of "Obsession Sweet Corn" this summer.

Brothers Colin and Jackson Phillips and cousins Zane and Zoe Phillips are busy, and they are splitting the proceeds.

"It's hot sitting out here, but I have met a lot of really nice people," said Colin, 10, who is raising money to take a trip with his mother, Khristen. "I am raising money to go to South America next summer with my mom."

PHILLIPS FAMILY PHOTO - Got to get up pretty early to get in the fields: Pictured on a hazy, sunny morning are brothers Colin and Jackson Phillips and cousins Zane and Zoe Phillips. The group is working together to sell sweet corn this summer.

Colin was at the corner of Vandalia and US 40 Tuesday with his mom.

Colin goes to the field to pick the corn he sells and vouches that it is good.

"It's juicy and sweet," said Colin, who admits he has eaten an ear or two of the corn raw in the field. "It's good."

The group has been selling the corn a dozen for $4 each in several places in the county. They are still counting the profits, but Colin thinks his part is around $80.

"Colin wants to raise money for the trip," said Khristen, who will be the new Chemistry teacher at Northview High School this fall. "Zane said he is going to buy ice cream and save the rest for college. The other two aren't sure yet."
