CYFL Check-in: Week 1 edition

The 2022 CYFL season kicked off on Saturday. Below are the results and recaps of the various games that took place in the August heat:

Pee Wee

The Pee Wee league kicked the day off with a pair of exciting games.

Game one featured The Ace Hardware Bulldogs and The Terre Haute Chevrolet Panthers renewing their growing rivalry.

The Bulldogs outlasted the Panthers 42-35.

The Panthers scored first then the Bulldogs took control only to have the Panthers storm back but fall just short.

The Bulldogs were led by Jackson Pestoff with five touchdowns and 12 tackles. River Trusler added another touchdown, Kaston Lowerly had 4 tackles and forced the key fumble late which was recovered by Lincoln Trout.

The Panthers were led by Bryson Silvers and Miles Walker with two touchdowns each. Silvers recorded 10 tackles and Walker added eight! Greyson Forquer also forced a fumble and took it back for a touchdown.

Game two lived up to the hype created by game one.

The Dairy Queen Wolves defeated the Riddell National Bank Lions 28-27.

The Wolves held the lead throughout a majority of the game. The Lions took the lead with under a minute to go, then the Wolves responded on a long touchdown run by Dalton Dewig.

Dewing totaled two touchdowns and four tackles. Kyler Keith had two touchdowns. Max Osborn added seven tackles and Cooper Deal had four.

Liam Fabbri totaled three touchdowns and seven tackles. Ashton Ferry scored a TD and had seven tackles. Marius Ghent added five tackles as well for the Lions.

Junior League

In game one The Yankee Rose Irish used a stout defense to defeat the defeat The Home Town Savings Bank Minors by a score of 28-6.

The Irish held a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

The defense was led by Jack Dearth and Cale Cesinger. The duo each had six tackles and a sack apiece.

Several other Irish recorded multiple tackles as well. Cesinger also added a touchdown on the offensive side. Cree Staley found the end zone three times for Irish.

Gavin Boling scored the lone touchdown for the Minors. Eli Marlow and Ben Hollingsworth led defensively with eight and seven tackles respectively. Colton Jones pitched in with four tackles while Levi Penni added three tackles and a sack.

In Game two The Hoosier Homes and Land Cowboys defeated the A’s Pampered Pet Palace Outlaws 20-7.

The Cowboys backfield attack was a three headed monster which proved to be to much for the Outlaws.

Max Raetz reached the end zone twice. Case Bath scored once and Bentley Bennett added a couple of long runs for the Cowboys. Defensively Raetz led the Cowboys in tackles and Eli Nauman disrupted the Outlaws back field all afternoon with multiple tackles for loss.

Kade Wilson found the end zone for the Outlaws. Defensively The Outlaws were led in tackles by Gavin Hendrix followed by Ben Eder, Cade Wilson and Trinton Monteith.

Senior League

In game one The Technifab Red Devils used a total team effort to defeat The Ultimate Warriors 18-6.

The Red Devils fell behind early 6-0, but then proceeded to shut down the Warriors offense and score 18 unanswered points.

The defense was led by Colton Grisby with a number of other Red Devils recording multiple tackles. Lucas Hollingsworth caught a pair of touchdown passes from Red Devil quarterback Zac Styck. Brady Bennett also found the end zone with a rushing touchdown of his own.

The Warriors line touchdown came from Hunter Hayes. Easton Sinclair recorded eight tackles and a forced fumble; Zavier Weddle added six tackles as well for the Warriors.

In game two the Carbon Heating and Cooling Bears made a statement defeating the Wabash Valley Plumbing Colts 52-6.

The Bears successfully recovered two on side kicks to start the game and scored on both possessions and never looked back.

Ethan Smith returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and added another one rushing as well. Bryer Killion reached the end zone twice; Ryan McBride, Brocton Stewart and Trenton Givens each added a touchdown for the Bears. Chase Wilson led the Bears in tackles.

Dylan Withers scored the Colts touchdown.

The Colts were led defensively by Withers, Zaiden Reisinger and Colton Ter Meer.
