Donna Mae (Winn) Keelen, Brazil, IN entered into the arms of Jesus on Easter morning, April 9, 2023, with her husband, Steve, by her side. Donna’s passing occurred at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice in Terre Haute following complications from an out-patient medical procedure at an Indianapolis hospital two weeks earlier.

Donna was born December 23, 1952, to John and Jesse (King) Winn who both preceded her in death. She is survived by husband Steve; their son Kevin (Nithya) and granddaughter Karina of Cary, NC; sister Shirley Pounds (Chuck) of Terre Haute; brother-in-law Gene Keelen (Kathy) of Terre Haute; sisters-in-law Starla Darnell, Karen Keelen (Jim Cundiff), and Ragini Scheid (Rob) all of Terre Haute plus several nieces and a nephew. Donna and Steve were married on May 25, 1974, in Terre Haute, nearly 49 years ago.

Donna grew up in Burnett and attended Otter Creek and Fontanet elementary grades, Otter Creek Junior High and was a proud 1970 graduate of Garfield High School. Upon graduation she worked at Union Hospital as a Unit Assistant on 1 West until she and Steve moved in 1975 to the Westfield and Noblesville, IN area where they resided until 2017. During these years Donna worked in retail, remained at home a dozen years to raise their son, then held office manager positions and a greeting card merchandising position.

She studied and attained Purdue University Advanced Master Gardener status and was affiliated with the Hamilton County Master Gardener program with over 3000 volunteer hours. She loved flowers of all types and her home showed that love with a variety of plantings. Donna was also a voracious reader of mystery, murder, and love stories and always had a book or her Kindle nearby. Also, Donna became interested in the sinking of the Titanic in the sixth grade which led to a current large collection of books, memorabilia, and period artifacts. She was a member of the Titanic Historical Society and even had her photo taken with Titanic survivors during a Titanic convention in the 1980’s.

Steve and Donna built their retirement home in Brazil in 2017 to be near family and friends. They joined Bee Ridge Church where Donna used her beautiful, alto voice to help lead congregational singing. She was also involved in many church functions and loved to go to lunch with the other church women following a planning or preparation event or for any other reason they could find!

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 22 at Bee Ridge Church located at 3010 West County Road 1000 North, Brazil, IN 47834. Visitation is from noon to 2:00 pm and the service is at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests you send a gift in memory of Donna to Bee Ridge Church at the address above or visit www.BeeRidge.church and click the Donate box in the upper right side of the page. All gifts will go toward infant and child services and missions within the church.
