Rhea Ann Hood, age 78, of Brazil, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Friday, May 19 at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute.

Rhea was born December 1, 1944 in Brazil to Cecil Wayne and Rosemary Green. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1962 and received a degree in Art from Indiana State University. She married Robert Hood in 1994 at the Harmony United Methodist Church. Rhea worked for many years as an art teacher in the Clay Community School Corporation.

Rhea spent much of her time pursuing her creative passions, including teaching art and creating her own original works. She was a past Clay County 4-H leader and was active in the Clay Community Theater. Rhea spent much of her free time attending plays, particularly at the Indiana Repertory Theater in Indianapolis. She also travelled extensively throughout the United States and beyond, including a memorable trip with friends to Italy. Perhaps her favorite pastime was simply being in the presence of her friends and family.

Rhea was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Brenda Wahl, two nieces, Kelly Green and Joanna Warne, and a son-in-law, Don Bullerdick. She is survived by her husband, Bob, three daughters, Lisa Bullerdick, Miranda Brown, Lottie Barcus (Rick), and a son, John Wayne Pell (Kari). She is also survived by four step-children, Leah Hood (Jay), Wade Hood (Stephanie), Carrie Siples (Dave), Lindsey Starr (Shawn), as well as eighteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26 at Lawson Miller Chapel in Brazil from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and a funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, May 27 from noon to 2:00 p.m.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maverick Presnell, care of Brianna Presnell.
