Eels finish fourth in return to conference tournament
For the first time since 2022, Clay City’s boys golf team was on the scene at Phil Harris Golf Course for the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference championship.
There, the Eels (389) finished in the middle of the pack, taking fourth place behind Shakamak (319), Bloomfield (364) and Eastern Greene (372).
And even though, as Clay City head coach Clarence Johnson admitted afterwards, the team didn’t put up the scores they were hoping to, it was still another step in the right direction for the program as the Eels beat a pair of teams in North Central and North Daviess after falling to them earlier in the regular season.
Clay City had its full team at its disposal on Saturday and saw a bunched-up lineup with Logan Stoelting (93), Bryce Wiram (93) and Luke Laswell (96) finishing three strokes apart from each other while only seven strokes separated Zane Paddock (107) and Brayden Wiram (114).
