GOOD NEWS: Singing janitor on the way to the AGT finals
Times Staff Report
Richard Goodall, the West Vigo Middle School custodian, known affectionately as ‘the singing janitor,’ embarked on a remarkable journey. He recently traveled to Los Angeles, CA, to deliver a stunning rendition of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ on the grand stage of ‘America’s Got Talent ‘.
During the premiere episode on Tuesday (May 28), Judge Simon Cowell was visibly moved by Goodall’s emotional performance. He declared, ‘You are my hero. I think America is going to love you ‘, a sentiment that resonated with the audience.
The rest of the judges, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Heidi Klum, praised Goodall’s performance, with Klum hitting the Golden Buzzer.
The Golden Buzzer, a symbol of exceptional talent, was bestowed upon Goodall. This recognition catapults the act to the show’s live finals, bypassing the usual AGT Audition process. It’s a testament to the extraordinary impact of his performance.
A flabbergasted Goodall also received a hug from Heidi Klum before calling his fiance in Terre Haute about the news.
