New faces, new roles at the Brazil City Fire Department

It was a moment of unity and celebration as families and supporters gathered with the new hires and newly promoted Brazil City Fire Department members for a ceremonial swearing-in on Wednesday in the City Council Chambers.

Chief Jake Bennett congratulated all the men and expressed his gratitude to the families for their attendance.

“It’s a commitment being on this job,” said Bennett.

Caden Heyman - Firefighter for the Brazil Fire Department

Mayor Brian Wyndham congratulated and welcomed Tanner Wilson and Caden Hayman, the department’s new hires, who were officially sworn in Wednesday.

“Guys in these probationary periods are really learning a lot, and it’s a sharp learning curve for some of them,” said Bennett.

Troy McQueen - Captain for the Brazil Fire Department

Four department members were promoted—Zach Mormans to Lieutenant, Seth Haviland to Lieutenant, Troy McQueen to Captain, and Raymond Staub to Assistant Chief—showing their dedication and resilience.

“These promotions don’t come easy; it takes time, it takes work, and a lot of effort. You’re a fine example for guys to follow,” said Wyndham.
