Regional JAG Specialists Receive State Honors

JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) Specialists from around the state met recently in Indianapolis for training and preparation for the upcoming school year.

At the end of each day of training, several awards were presented. JAG Western Indiana received the “6 of 6” Award for our performance as a Region. The “6 of 6” Award measures a program’s success in Graduation Rate, Employment/Full-Time Employment, Total Positive Outcomes (includes military enlistment), Further Education and Connectivity Rate.

Individually, Kim Snodgrass of Parke County and Karl Turk from Cloverdale and Diana Lighthizer of Sullivan received “6 of 6” awards for their programs. Diana was also recognized for helping her students secure 1.1 million dollars in scholarships which was the third highest in the state.

Brandy Dickson of North Putnam received an award for her five years of service, while Dana Bottomley of Northview and Program Director Greg Lee received awards for ten years of service.

Finally, Dana Bottomley was honored with the Glynn Hines Lifetime Achievement award for her work with the Northview High School JAG program.

JAG is a state-based national non-profit organization dedicated to high school completion and post-secondary success among young people who have barriers to graduation and/or employment. In its sixteen years of operation, JAG of Western Indiana has delivered consistent, compelling results – helping over three thousand young people stay in school through graduation, pursuit of postsecondary education and securing quality entry-level jobs leading to career advancement opportunities.

Current participating JAG high schools in Western Indiana include; Cloverdale, Greencastle, North Putnam, Northview, Riverton Parke, South Putnam, South Vermillion, Sullivan, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South and West Vigo. In addition, effective with the 2024-2025 schoolyear, we will include four middle school programs at Cloverdale, Greencastle, North Putnam and Riverton Parke Middle Schools.
