Saturday, July 6, 2024

Following a rough afternoon against Crawfordsville Post 72 on June 22, Clay County Post 2 got right back into the win column two days later, besting Watseka Post 23 by a score of 8-2 before taking part in the Princeton Invitational on June 28-29.

There, Post 2 won three of its four games, which included a thrilling win over Oldham Post 39 that saw Wyatt Johnson lead off the eighth inning with a triple and then score on Noah Atkinson’s walk-off single and a 14-0 win a few hours later against Funkhouser Post 8, marking the largest win of the summer for Clay County.

Post 2 took the Independence Day holiday off from game action but will be very busy over the next two weeks – July 8 at home against Bloomfield Post 196, July 9 at Terre Haute North against Terre Haute Post 346, July 11-13 tournament at Crawfordsville, July 16 at home against Beech Grove Post 276 and July 18 at Bloomfield Post 196 – before embarking on the Legion Regional Tournament held at Terre Haute North on July 19 and 20.
