Clara Mae Carter, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Hutsonwood of Brazil. She was born on May 13, 1942 in Marion County, Indiana to the late Charles and Mary (Fisher) Brickert. Clara Mae married Layton Carter on October 6, 1959, and worked for Tuttle’s Orchard and Cox’s Plant Farm.

She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and rabbits, as well as spending time with her family and friends. Clara Mae was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Cecil, Richard, Ronnie, and Jimmy Brickert; sisters, Mary Brickert, Barbara Bray, and Beverly Grider; and two grandchildren, April Carter and Daniel Carter.

Survivors include her sons, Danny (Leeann) Carter, Donald (Karen) Carter, Darrell (JoAnn) Carter, Darren (Amy) Carter; daughter, Theresa (James) Gregory; brothers, Paul (Shirley) Brickert and Dennis (Sandy) Brickert; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Steve Brattain officiating and burial to follow at Poland Cemetery.
