Tucker continues to pitch well, earns third straight win
For the first time since being promoted to the High-A level, former Northview standout Braydon Tucker faced a team that’s seen him in the past when he toed the rubber for a start against the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, over the weekend.
And while the Cyclone batters had an idea of what to expect from Tucker, the hard-throwing right-hander kept them off balance in another dominating outing to lead the Jersey Shore BlueClaws onto victory.
Tucker dazzled, matching his career-bests – at the High-A level – in innings pitched (6) and hits allowed (2) while also matching a career-high in strikeouts (6). Altogether, the former Knight threw six innings of one-run baseball while surrendering two hits and one walk to earn his third consecutive win. And in doing so, lowered his ERA for the third time in as many starts with it now sitting at 3.48.
The 5-1 win over Brooklyn also marked the first time Tucker appeared in a game on a day other than Sunday as the righty was moved up a spot in the rotation and put together his sensational performance on Saturday night.
Next up for Tucker and the BlueClaws is a six-game series against the Hudson Valley Renegades, the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees which rosters the organization’s No. 3 and 21 prospects in shortstop George Lombard Jr. and second baseman Roc Riggio. Tucker, who is expected to start one of the weekend games for Jersey Shore to wrap up the month of August/open the month of September, faced the Renegades on Aug. 4. In that start, Tucker surrendered five runs in three innings, taking his lone loss of the year since being officially promoted on July 16.
