Development continues on the West side of Brazil
Residents of Clay County and Brazil may have observed the initial construction work taking place on the west side of Brazil along U.S. Highway 40.
Mark and Becky Vincent from Reliable Garage Doors updated the Clay County Redevelopment Commission on the ongoing project during its most recent meeting.
The building, a 100x80 pole barn structure, will include office space, a showroom, and a parts room. Mark Vincent, who worked for Overhead Door for 36 years before starting Reliable Garage Doors, noted he was pleased to have a parts room in the facility.
"I'm looking forward to the parts room because everyone who has had to buy parts has had to go all the way to Overhead to buy them; now they'll be able to come to Brazil to get parts," explained Vincent.
The business will include a truck bay on the east side with the back of the building being utilized as warehouse space.
"We'll start stocking doors, getting doors and operators in, getting jobs together, and doing the business all back there," described Vincent. Phase two will include adding a loading dock to the area.
Reliable Garage Doors sells several high-quality garage door brands, including DoorLink, Wayne Dalton, Haas, and Amarr, as well as Genie and LiftMaster operators.
Vincent says progress is going well. Construction is currently on hold due to sewage. Once completed, the front parking lot and planting trees in the back of the building will follow.
As Vincent describes, one of the deals of buying the property was to ensure the Villas of Holly Brook would not have to view any materials or dumpsters.
"We'll put a berm, plant trees on it, landscape it, and make it look nice," said Vincent.
The Vincent's noted they are using many local businesses, including Brown Brothers Excavating, Willmore LLC Pole Barns, Carbon Heating and Cooling, and Single Phase Electric.
"We're trying to use all local," said Vincent.
The area will continue to grow as a credit union will be built in the lot next to Reliable Garage Doors, in front of Villas of Holly Brook.
The commission noted they are happy to see growth, with Vincent adding Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham is also pleased with the new venture.
"I'm glad to see new facilities," said President Tom Ames, "(Reliable Garage Doors) looks like it's going to be nice."
In other business
The contract for consulting services was approved, and Brook Reinoehl will serve as a consultant for economic development from September 1, 2024 until December 31, 2024.
